What Does ‘Discovery’ Mean? Discovery means a lot of things to me. It means to find new things. In my drawing, I am digging up a dinosaur skeleton. It takes place in my backyard. This is what discovery means to me.

Crusie Arcade Game - Mini Ball:
Research Paper
Identify the Problem How can we, as Caine has inspired, demonstrate through teamwork our imagination, determination, and passion for creativity and innovation, with our own arcade constructions? Explore What Makes an Effective Professional Arcade Game?
I researched the game Block Blaster. The maker is Dan Jewett. The game has a ball which bounces on the walls and the blocks. It also bounces on the pad that moves across the bottom of the screen that you control with your mouse. The object of the game is to keep the ball in the air. You find the rules of the game under the game. I rated it with 3 out of 4 stars. You win the game by destroying all the blocks. When you win you go to the next level.
What would you need to make the arcade game? The materials you would need to build it would be a stick, tape, bouncy ball, a cardboard box, a piece of cardboard and little boxes. I think it costs at least $100-150 both to buy and to build.
The URL of BlockBlaster is
http://ww10.freearcade.com/BlockBlaster.flash/BlockBlaster.html. Design Brief What is the Concept Design of My Crusie Arcade Game? The name of our game is Mini Ball. The way you play the game is by shooting 5 mini basketballs and trying to get them in one of the two hoops. We will display the rules on the ticket box under the slot. The difficulty level in a 1-4 rating is 2. You win the game by getting as many points as you can. You get as many tickets as you get points.
Our blueprint shows that our game looks like a big cardboard box that says Mini Ball with another smaller box on the side that says Tickets. It is where you get all the tickets you earned. In the inside there are 2 hoops.
Our game is made of cardboard boxes, tape, paint, and hoops. I think it will take about 4-5 weeks to build. Some problems we foresee having with the game design are the hoops because they might be wiggly, the ticket box and the ball tray, because they might not be sturdy.

Praise: Challenging game! Very creative design - I love the rooms that catch the balls. I thought the way the idea evolved was fascinating - you started with one idea and ended up somewhere completely different.
Question: Can anyone score more than 50? Do I get an extra toss if I score a 10 on my last ball?
Polish: I suggest you clearly write the rules about how far away someone stands for the extra levels of difficulty.
Student Comment: Thank you. We tried to make our arcade game, Mini Ball, challenging and creative. We wanted to have some sort of room to catch the mini basket balls so they do not fall on the floor. In the scoring no one can score more than 50 points because we only had 5 mini basket balls. No, you do not get an extra toss if you score a 10 on your last try. We will tell the players where to stand based on their age for different levels of difficulty. We thank you very much for your constructive criticism.

Praise: I enjoyed the game. It was challenging and fun. Your choice of recycled materials worked very well. Once the balls were thrown, they were contained and easy to retrieve.
Question: How can you make your game more colorful?
Polish: You might want to have a specified spot to stand depending upon the age of the player.
Student Comment: Thank you. We tried to make our game, Mini Ball, fun, enjoyable, and challenging. We kind of figured what materials we were going to use and how they would work. The rooms that caught the basket balls were easy to make. Also, the rooms were designed for the basket balls to be easy to retrieve after they were thrown. I guess we could make our game more colorful with duct tape or paint, but we did not have enough time. We are going to tell the players where to stand based on their age for different levels of difficulty. We thank you very much for your constructive criticism.

Praise: Nice idea. Everyone likes basketball, great doors.
Question: Could you stand a far distance from the game to control the score?
Polish: Fix the level on the back net. It appears to be “tilted” so people cannot score.
Student Comment: Thank you, we thought of what everyone likes, and out came basketball - Mini Ball. We also needed to think of an easy way to get the basketballs out, and there were the doors. We are going to tell the players where to stand based on their age for different levels of difficulty. I am sorry, but the back net is hot glued and very hard to take off so we cannot fix that. We thank you for your constructive criticism.

How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Reflection on Project
What can we do to improve our Arcade Creation?
I guess we could add some color, and better quality basketballs, for Mini ball.
Specifically, how would we do this?
We could add the color with duct tape, and I could get the basketballs from the dollar store.
Reflection on Process
What did you learn to do with the Crusie Arcade Project?
I learned how to build an arcade game with cardboard.
What do you know now that you didn’t know before doing the Project?
I did not know that this kid named Caine built an entire arcade out of boxes and tape.
What can you do now that you couldn’t before doing this project?
I can also build an arcade.
What did you like about the project that helped your learning?
I liked that we had to compromise and that helped me learn teamwork.
What could have been done differently to help your learning?
I do not know how it could have been different.
A Final Reflection:
We can improve our Arcade Creation by adding some color and using better quality basketballs for Mini Ball. Specifically, we would do this with duct tape, and I could get the basketballs from the Dollar Store. I learned how to make a cardboard arcade game stronger. I did not know that this kid named Caine built an entire arcade out of boxes and tape. I can make a cardboard arcade strong now. I liked that we had to compromise and that helped me learn team work. I do not know how it could have been different to help my learning. Crusie Arcade Game Presentation - Gaming Week:
